3. ROCKTAPE

RockTape is a type of kinesiology tape that claims to treat injuries such as shin splints, plantar fasciitis, runner’s knee and back pain. Their tape is supposed to microscopically lift the skin away from the muscle and fascia, which in turn is creates a decompressive effect. This is supposed to reduce swelling so that you can move better. Unfortunately, Rocktape has not been clinically proven for all injuries. Relieves swelling through decompression which speeds recovery and increases awareness of your body position to help you maintain proper posture and form.

What our tester says:

RockTape is one of the better known kinesiology tape brands out there on the market today! They make a plethora of tapes which can be used in multiple ways to support your body during physical strain. Rocktape is designed to be a stretchier and sticker tape and it works to help support your muscles and joints. You are able to wear the tape for up to 7 days and the material is hypoallergenic AdhesiveZinc and Latex FreeWater and Sweat Resistant. You can stretch the tape for a full range of motion and you get a total of 5 to 10 applications per roll. Rocktape allows you to workout at your own comfort and perform at your best without any restrictions in movement. The tape is made from 100% organic cotton and the ends of the tape acts as anchors that move the skin off of the muscles. The movement of skin allows for improved blood flow to a particular area and with use overtime recovery is seen. Rocktape is the best option for endurance athletes and for people on the go.

I reviewed the Rocktape 2” tape and saw how it was durable for my shoulder pain and inflammation. I wanted to test and see if the cotton base of the tape would hold better than other cotton tapes and if it wasn’t too restrictive during my movement at the gym. At first the application of the tape was very difficult and it took a couple of tries to be able to apply it correctly. I would say for a first time user it was hard, but nothing that isn’t manageable with some help! For a cotton tape, I thought it provided sufficient support and it wasn’t stiff like other tapes that I have tried in the past. I found that during my workout some of the tape lost its stick when my skin creased or I got progressively more sweaty. Although the durability of the patch is up to 7 days I realized that the tape slipped off after a few hours of being sweaty. I personally like tape that comes in a solid roll so I can cut the pieces to my liking, but this tape comes pre-cut and so you have to have scissors on hand to adjust the sizing. Rocktapes educational videos definitely come in handy when trying to find ways to apply the tape. Overall, I would say that I saw Rocktape as a supportive base for a cotton based tape. It is a great option for support, but for reduction in any pain or inflammation you will need products that can offer more than just support and increased blood flow.
